Creating a Safe, Respectful & Fun Community
OC Salsa Student Code of Conduct ·
At OC Salsa, we strive to create a fun, safe and inclusive dance environment for every student. Whether you are attending class or social dancing, the way we treat each other helps build a respectful, welcoming community.
Come Ready to Dance
Good personal hygiene helps everyone feel comfortable during close partner dancing.
Fresh & Clean
Wear deodorant and maintain good hygiene before class or socials.
Fresh Breath
Brush your teeth or use breath mints before partner dancing.
Light Fragrance
Avoid strong perfume or cologne because others may be sensitive.
Bring Extras
Bring a towel or extra shirt if you tend to sweat heavily.
Social Dancing Guidelines
Social dancing should feel welcoming, comfortable and enjoyable for both partners.
One Dance Per Song
- One full song per partner is customary. Continue only when both partners agree.
- Politely ask someone to dance. Never grab, pull or pressure them.
- Respect a declined invitation without questions or offense.
Respect Boundaries
- No inappropriate touching, comments or lingering physical contact.
- Keep connection within normal dance-frame etiquette.
- Never push, force or yank your partner through a movement.
- You may stop any dance that makes you uncomfortable.
No Unrequested Teaching
- Do not correct or teach your partner unless feedback is requested.
- Social dancing is for connection and enjoyment, not evaluation.
- Allow every dancer to improve at their own pace.
