How Learning Works at OC Salsa
Every Class Starts Together
Each class begins with a fun, follow-along warm-up led by the instructor.
Instructor is in front, everyone follows
No pressure to “get it right”
Designed to loosen up, build rhythm, and get you comfortable moving
Just show up, move your body, and enjoy the music.
Then We Split by Level
After the warm-up, students separate into levels so everyone learns at the right pace:
Beginners 1 – brand new or starting from scratch
Beginners 2 – comfortable with basics, building combinations
Intermediates – refining technique, timing, and flow
This keeps classes fun, focused, and frustration-free.
Inside Our Beginner Classes
Beginner classes are designed to build confidence fast.
Each class includes:
The basic step
How to move to the music
How to lead or follow
One or two moves you can actually use on the dance floor.
At every class we:
Review fundamentals techniques of how to dance
Learn new moves step-by-step
Cover the same 5 basic steps over the period of about 4 to 5 classes to get you ready for Level 2.
Within just a few classes, you’ll recognize patterns, feel more confident, and start dancing — not just memorizing steps.
Support After Class (This Is Big)
Learning doesn’t stop when class ends.
🕒 1-on-1 Support (10 minutes after class)
Students can ask instructors for help with:
Anything covered in class
A move you’re struggling with
Technique, timing, or confidence
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, you can also request a 1-on-1 level evaluation to move up.

- Don’t worry about being perfect — progress comes with practice!
- Wear comfortable shoes that let you pivot (smooth soles are best).
- No partner? No problem! We rotate partners so everyone dances.
- Everyone learns at their own pace — relax, enjoy, and stay consistent.
