OC Salsa Friday Nights invites you to another awesome night of Bachata and Salsa, classes, dancing and live entertainment.
1st Day of Amateur Bachata Competition! Come participate or just cheer and watch. The competition will take place in one of the rooms while we continue to play music in the other one during the party time. Want to participate for a chance to win over $1500? All details and rules at the very end

7:30pm Bachata Class (Beginner and Intermediate)
8:30pm Salsa Class Beginner Level 1 (for those with Zero Experience), Beg 2 and Intermediate level.
Live Percussion Jam with percussion instruments. Come and play!
Then we dance the night away!!! 9:30pm-1am.
$15 per class (or 10 for $99 punch card) includes dancing. $10 only after 9:30pm
at 2980 Mcclintock way, Costa Mesa. Plenty of FREE parking. Come check it out (entrance thought the parking lot)

BACHATA COMPETITION DETAILS!!!
Welcome to OC Salsa “Best Social Bachata Dancer” Amateur Level Competition, with $1,500 in cash prizes!
Jack and Jill Style, No partner or costumes needed. Come to compete, to watch or to have a great time! Social dance and party before and after the competition.
Qualifying Rounds: Friday 3/27, 4/3, 4/10 and 4/17
Final: Friday 4/24 Finals
1st Place winner $1,000 Cash
2nd Place winner $300 Cash
3rd Place Winner $200 Cash
First day of competition and at each qualifying round, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place move to the final.
Description and rules:
From each date 3 leads and 3 follows will move to the final round. No need to have a partner. In the day of competition we will partner you up and you just social dance with someone who also signed up. Not competing? come watch and have fun. we ll have open dancing before and after the comp. Come cheer for your favorite dancers!
To compete you need to register the day of the competition at 7:30pm. Registration fee is $10 (does not include class the day off, 7.30pm bachata, 8:30pm salsa. Limited spots of 15 leads and 15 follows per qualifying date . To run a qualifying round we must have a minimum of 4 leads and 4 follows. If only 3 leads and 3 follows sing up (or less), they all automatically move to the final by default. Even if you didn’t qualify on a round, you can still register at the following qualifying date. To register there is the cover fee of $10 includes the dancing after (no classes included).
For the qualifying round, dancers will be randomly partnered and dance to the DJ music selection. All 3 couples will be selected by judges to move to the finals set to be Friday 4/24 for the chance to win the grand prize and to be crowned “Best Social Bachata Dancer, Amateur Level”
This is to crown the best social dancer, randomly partnered dancing to DJ Music selection. This competition is open to amateur level only. A jack and jill competition. May the best dancer became The Bachata Master of the Dance Floor!
Dancers will have their name placed in a hat (one for leads, one for follows), then they will randomly be partnered up to whomever they got selected to dance. All dancers then will dance together 2 songs After the 2 songs are danced, judges will be scoring to determine who the top 3 couples are.
For the finals, dancers will randomly draw names to switch partners again (fun!) to have a different partner and test their social dance skills.
At the finals one couple at a time will be dancing to an upbeat salsa song where they will be judged by pro dancers.
Qualifying rounds and finals will be judged in this criteria:
Timing, Technique, Musicality, Audience response, Dance Partner Connection, Improvisation and Rhythm.
Be on time to register at 7:30pm, once spaces fill up, registration closes. The purpose of the competition is to promote camaraderie among dancers in Orange County while challenging dancers to improve their dance skills in the social floor and reward them for it. . Open to amateur level Bachata dancers. No professional dancers.
Who is a professional dancer: anyone who received compensation from teaching or has been teaching classes in a regular basis (paid or unpaid)
There will be open dancing after the competitions. Tacos outside! TELL YOUR FRIENDS! Super fun and friendly. No attitude or egos welcomed. This really was designed to create a more open and fun dance Salsa/ Bachata dance scene in Orange County.
